Analgesia with intra articular ketorolac in the elderly underwent knee arthroceopy

Objective To observe the analgesic effects of intraarticular ketorolac or morphine combined with ropivacaine after knee arthroscopy procedure in the elderly.Methods Forty-eight elderly patients received knee arthroscopy under combined spinal-epidural anesthesia were randomly divided into 3 groups with 16 cases each.Group RM was given intra-articularly ropivacaine 50 mg and morphine 2 mg in 10 ml,group RK ropivacaine 50 mg and ketorolac15 mg in 10ml,and group C 10 ml NS at the end of operation.The analgesic effects were observed using VAS at 2,4,8,12,24 and 48 h after operation.The mean analgesic drug consumption within 8 h after operation was counted.Results The VAS points were much lower in groups of RM and RK than those in group C within 48 h after operation(P0.01).The satisfaction of patients to postoperative analgesia was in an order of RK RM C(P0.05).Conclusion Intraarticular administration of ketorolac combined with ropivacaine may provide superior postoperative analgesia,which is better than morphine combined with ropivacaine.
