Scutellaria baicalensis Leorgi is a kind of Chinese traditional herbal.Domestic and foreign scholars deeply analyzed chemical components,pharmacology effect and mechanism of S.baicalensis.Baicalein is the main bioactive component of S.baicalensis.The research progress in extraction,purification,content determination and bioactivity of baicalein at home and abroad in recent years were summarized which will provide a reference for development and utilization of baicalein.
