摘要
This paper explains how the innovative Hickory Building System (HBS) enables high-rise buildings to be manufactured offsite as modules, which can then be transported to construction site and assembled with less time and labour. Majority of the work is performed in a controlled factory environment which reduces the downtime due to inclement weather, improves personnel safety by reducing the need to work at heights and allows for quality control checks more effectively compared to conventional cast in-situ construction system. In addition, the offsite manufacturing reduces the overall logistical burden as majority of the construction materials can be delivered to the point of fabrication rather than delivering and storing on a congested building site in the middle of the city. Also this paper details the successful application of the HBS prefabricated modular system in a 44 storey high-rise building in Melbourne Australia, claimed to be the world tallest modular building.
