[Aims] Bacillus methylotrophicus has antagonistic action to Cylindrocarpon destructans. To prevent C. destructans of Panax ginseng, antagonistic protein and fungistasis experiments were carried out. [Methods] The stability of antagonistic protein to ultraviolet light, temperature, pH values, and protease were tested by mixing culture. The inhibition activity of antagonistic protein to C. destructans mycelium was tested by growth rate mensuration. The effect on mycelial morphology was tested by co-culture on plate and confrontation on slide. The effect on spore germination of C.destructans was tested by liquid culture. [Results] Antagonistic protein had a good stability to ultraviolet light, temperature,pH values and protease. The inhibition rate was 63.8% above against C. destructans' mycelium at more than 62.5 mg/L.Antagonistic protein had strong control effect on the growth of mycelium, which leads to increasing mycelium branches, rupture and mycelium cavity. At the concentration of 500 mg/L, its inhibition to spore germination reached up to 100%.[Conclusions] This study provides biological resources to control C. destructans of P. ginseng.
