Heavy-metal pollution in groundwater is difficult to deal with for the characteristics of unpredictability,a wide range of pollution, long duration, high concentrations and difficulty in emergency treatment. This paper designs a permeable reactive barrier(PRB)with mixed reaction media, apatite and calcium carbide slag for heavy-metal pollution in groundwater remediation. The results show that the barrier has a good effect on the removal of Cu(Ⅱ)and Cr(Ⅵ)from groundwater. The removal rates of Cu(Ⅱ)and Cr(VI)are 95.10% and 95.78%,respectively,and the pH value of the treated groundwater increases to 8.5.It is feasible to implement the remediation of heavy metal pollution in groundwater by using the technology of the permeable reactive barrier with the mixed reaction media.
