A determination method of ursolic acid and oleanolic acid in Crataegus pinnatifida by reversed-phase high performance liquid chromatography was established and at the same time UV spectrum of two components was detected by means of Photodiode Array Detector(PAD).The chromatographic column, Nova-Pak C18(3.9×300 mm, 4 μm), methanol- water (88:12, V/V) mobile phase with 0.8 mL/min flow rate, the detected wavelength (210 nm),and the column temperature(25 ℃) were adopted. The calibration curve of ursolic acid was linear under the content of 0.456~4.104 μg,with correlation coefficient over 0.9992.The average recovery of ursolic acid was 96.3 %. The calibration curve of oleanolic acid was linear under the content of 0.156 ~1.384 μg, with correlation coefficient over 0.9989.The average recovery of oleanolic acid was 95.8 %. This method is simple, accurate, reproducible and has wider linear range, which can be adapted to evaluate the quality of plant that contains two components.
