摘要
Objective:To explore the roles of EEG and its stimulation response in prognosis of comatose patients. Methods:EEG plus stimulation were performed on 58 comatose patients for 24 h consecutively to observe the dynamic changes of EEGs.Results:Spindle coma and changeable slow wave coma were sensitive to stimulation and the prognosis was good.Slow wave coma without response and beta wave coma suggested bad prognosis. Alpha wave, flat wave, and burst-suppression pattern wave coma did not respond to stimulation and the death rate of comatose patients was 100%.Regular discharge wave coma brought about severe sequelae even though the patients may survive. Its diagnosis accuracy for brain death was obviously higher than routine EEG alone. Conclusions:Monitoring comatose patients by EEG plus stimulation may increase the accuracy in judgment of prognosis and brain death
