The welding precess of NZ30K Mg-Rare-earth alloy plate was studied using high power CO2 laser.The factors which influence the welding seam were investigated,such as the laser power,welding speed,laser focusing position,the side gas flow rate and back gas flow rate.The result shows that at the condition of melt through with the single welding pass,all the above mentioned welding parameters affect the welding seam,the laser power and welding speed affect even more.The melt width on the plate back is affected the most with the parameters.The excellent welding seam on the NZ30K Mg-Rare-earth alloy plate can be obtained with the proper laser welding technology.
