Preparation and Properties of Novel Thermoplastic Starch

The two kinds of corn and wheat thermoplastic starch were prepared by using glycerol as plasticizer.The effects of dispersion time,gelatinizion temperature and gelatinizion time on the properties of thermoplastic starch were discussed.Results showed that the granular starch turned to a continuous phase of thermoplastic starch after gelatinizion and mechanical processing.Under the optimum processing conditions,the tensile strength of the two kinds of thermoplastic starch can be up to 15 MPa.
