The review focuses current research in the rapidly developing field of the chemistry of porphyrin–fullerene complexes. Recent advances in the synthesis, properties, and potential applications of these compounds are considered. An overview of the most popular methods to prepare porphyrin complexes with C 60 fullerene is given. The discussion of porphyrin‒fullerene complexes includes the structures of noncovalently linked porphyrin‒fullerenes along with covalently linked complexes. Much attention is paid to potential applications of porphyrin‒fullerene conjugates.
