A series of mixed rare earth complexes of europium and terbium with o aminobenzoate and 2,2'-dipyridyl were synthesized by the reaction of EuCl 3 and TbCl 3 with o-aminobenzoate and 2,2'-dipyridyl in solution.Their infrared spectra were investigated. The results show that the chemical bonds have been formed between the two ligands with rare earth ions. The fluorescence spectra excited by 351nm UV-light indicate that the fluorescence intensities of europium ions are sensitized by terbium ions and those of terbium ions are quenched by europium ions, but the emission peak positions are unchanged.
