When using ASBBR to treat the mustard tuber wastewater with high salt (Cl-of 20 g/L) and high organic concentration (COD of 8 000 mg/L) in winter, the activity of anaerobic microorganisms is suppressed by the high salt and low temperature, and the treatment efficiency is low.Aimed at this problem, betaine was added into the influent to improve the activity of anaerobic sludge, and the influence of betaine on treatment of high-salt mustard tuber wastewater by ASBBR was investigated. The results show that when the domesticated anaerobic sludge is used in ASBBR,the formed biofilm density is 50%,and water temperature is 8 to 12 ℃,addition of betaine can improve the treatment efficiency of ASBBR,and the efficiency can reach the highest with a dosage of 0.5 mmol/L.The average COD in the effluent after domestication is 4 461 mg/L.Compared with ASBBR without adding betaine, the activity of the sludge is obviously enhanced, the dehydrogenase content in anaerobic microorganisms is increased by 18.6%,and the removal rate of COD is increased by 18.1%.
