The synthetic process and the scale inhibition function of the copolymer of itaconic acid-acrylic acid to synthetic water containing CaCO 3 have been studied. The relationships between the inhibition function and copolymer amount added, Ca 2+ concentration, temperature and time of the solution have been discussed. the results showed that the copolymer possesses good effect on reducing scale inhibition of CaCO 3 with a wide range temperature, The scale inhibition function was significant with a small amount of copolymer.
