Ophiopogon heterotepalus, a new species from Lai Chau Province in NW Vietnam, is described and illustrated. It is most similar to O. peliosanthoides, but differs mainly in its significantly smaller, less widely open, urceolate-campanulate flowers, shorter heteromorphic (or dimorphic) perianth lobes differing in shape and size between the inner and the outer whorls, shorter triangular anthers, and shorter styles. Some ecological notes as well as taxonomic data and notes on its relationships to congeners are provided.
