OBJECTIVE To investigate the clinical significance of testing for Apo A1 and Apo B from patients with cirrhosis complicated with hepatic encephalopathy.METHODS The Apo A1 and Apo B of 45 patients with cirrhosis were tested, and 20 patients with cirrhosis were complicated by hepatic encephalopathy and 35 healthy cases, respectively. The results of Apo A1 and Apo B of patients with cirrhosis complicated withhepatic encephalopathy before and after treatment were analyzed.RESULTS The level of Apo A1 and Apo B of patients with cirrhosis complicated with hepatic encephalopathy significantly were lower than cirrhosis group and healthy cases. There was significant difference between the two groups(P≤0.05).The level of Apo A1 from 14 patients with cirrhosis complicated with hepatic encephalopathy were significantly improved compared with that before treatment. There was significant difference between the two groups(P≤0.05).The level of Apo B was significantly higher than that before treatment. However, there was no significantly difference between the two groups(P﹥0.05).CONCLUSION The level of Apo A1 and Apo B of patients can reflect the degree of liver function and liver injury, and it has clinical value on the outcome and prospect of patients with cirrhosis complicated with hepatic encephalopathy.
