A series of catalysts for the vapor phase selective oxidation from p-tert butyl toluene to p-tert benzaldehyde were prepared by the impregnation method. The effects of the reaction conditions such as reaction temperature, space velocity, concentration of p-tert betyl toluene, and stability of catalysts were investigated. The results showed that under suitable conditions the selectivity of p-tert benzaldehyde can be as high as 80 mol% and the conversion of p-tert butyl toluene can reach 12 mol%. The catalyst retained excellent reaction properties after running for 365 hours. The catalyst showed broad application prospects both for industry and environmental protection.
