The increasing demand and expensive price on lithium-ion battery cathode material LiCoO2 have prompted the recovery progress of cobalt by hydrometallurgical processes.A hydrometallurgical process has been optimized for recovery of cobalt from spent lithium-ion secondary batteries.According to the property of lithium-ion secondary battery cathode wastes of Al-Co film,a simple process has been determined for recycling cobalt and aluminum:the application of special organic solvent in the treatment of used lithium-ion batteries aims at the dissolution of PVDF so that isolates LiCoO2 and aluminum, then leachs LiCoO2 and C,extracts of leach liquors by N235,electrowins of cobalt and at last recycles cobalt. The intact, bright and compact metallic deposit containing 99.5% cobalt was obtained which has a good surface through SEM.
