The relationship between negative perfectionism and procrastination of college students

In present research,the negative perfectionism questionnaire that was edited locally and the general procrastination questionnaire were used to investigated the relationships between negative perfectionism and procrastination. The participants were 248 college students. The results showed that the male college students had significantly higher scores than female college students in the unrealistic high standards dimension,the female college students had significantly higher scores than male college students in the hesitation dimension; The liberal arts students had significantly higher scores than science students in the excessive caution and carefully,excessive planning and control dimensions. The college students' total score of negative perfectionism was not significantly related with procrastination.But the fear of failure and hesitation were positively related with the procrastination. The excessive planning and control,excessive caution and carefully were negatively related with procrastination. The significant influential factors of procrastination were hesitation,excessive caution and carefully,fear of failure,which accounted for 34% of the total variance.
