Study on the Recovery of Gallium Using Modified Meerschaum

The modified meerschaum was first used to recover gallium from acid solution and the experimental results were satisfied.The effects of systematic acidity,amount of meerschaum and reaction times on the rate of recovery were investigated.And the desorption of gallium and the recovery of meerschaum were also studied.The experimental results show that the recovery of gallium can reach over 95%,however,other ion(e.g.Cd~(2+)、Zn~(2+)、Pb~(2+) and Cu~(2+)) less than 10% under the condition of pH value 3.0,the amount of meerschaum 3.0g,the reaction time 30min.The gallium can be desorbed from meerschaum by 2.0 mol/L HCl and the rate of desorption was over 99%.The meerschaum desorbed can be recycled to recover gallium.
