[Objective] The research aimed to understand the basic cause of Pomacea canaliculata disaster in Xishuangbanna region. [Method]The reproduction and growth of P. canaliculata in Xishuangbanna region of Yunnan were studied by using the methods of self-breeding and selfreproduction.[Result] When the water temperature was more than 40 ℃,P. canaliculata began to die. P. canaliculata all died within 12 days when the water temperature was over 42 ℃. When the water temperature was less than 6 ℃,most of P. canaliculata died. When the water temperature was less than 5 ℃,P. canaliculata all died. The reproductive capacity of P. canaliculata in Xishuangbanna was stronger,its annual reproductive time was 245 d. P. canaliculata had 3 ~ 4 generations per year in Xishuangbanna. Young snails attained to sexual maturity at about2 ~ 3 months after birth. The growth speed of P. canaliculata showed phase changes. The growth speed of P. canaliculata was the fastest during30 ~ 60 d after hatching. [Conclusion]Compared with other regions of China,P. canaliculata in Xishuangbanna had the characteristics of longer reproductive stage,more generations and earlier sexual maturity.
