摘要
Describing advances relevant to the field of bioprocess intensification (BI) in particular is a challenge for several reasons. Digital biomanufacturing can support both advanced enterprise resource planning and continuous processing, as well as activities completed unrelated to BI. The goal of bioprocess simplification is to minimize process activities and extent while maintaining productivity and value. Continuous bioprocessing is being promoted in biomanufacturing for many reasons, such as operating at similar scales for product and process development and clinical and commercial production. Automation is becoming increasingly important in bioprocessing. Improvements in process monitoring can be categorized in many ways. Biomanufacturing has evolved into an era of new product types and applications, new product development approaches and tools, new manufacturing processes and support technologies, and new facility designs and construction methods. There are many verified technologies and commercial products being successfully applied to the goal of bioprocess intensification.
