摘要
Transcriptomics is the systematic, genome-wide characterization of gene expression. It functions as a powerful investigative tool to study complex diseases such as IgE-mediated food allergy. In this chapter, we provide an overview of transcriptomics and highlight studies where transcriptomics has been used to expand our understanding of food allergy mechanisms, T and B cell biology in food allergy, food allergy severity, and treatment of food allergy. The key driver genes, biological processes, gene signatures, and molecular processes associated with food allergy that transcriptomics has elucidated have deepened our mechanistic understanding of food allergy in addition to pointing the way toward future investigations and therapy.
