Roundtable Discussion: Black Speculative Method / Black Speculative Practice

Abstract Taking as its foundation tension rather than unity as the organizing force undergirding the Black speculative tradition, this roundtable focuses on reframing the ways that the field claims its genealogies through and against certain ideas of identity. Four contemporary cultural critics of race, gender, sexuality, and cultural expression have a conversation on the relationship between speculative art and theoretical methods that build off their own most recent or forthcoming works and their teaching in Black feminist and queer-of-color studies.
