Translation and Literary Analysis

The role of translation is central in the literary polysystem. Without translation literatures could not be experienced outside their usual areas of language use. Without criticism literatures could not build up traditions that help to preserve and disseminate them. The following connections lie between them: 1.They both have important roles in the literary polysystem 2.Both translation and literary criticism characterize literatures from different angles. 3.Both of them serve to find out the merits and values of literary works and provide much distribution for the work. So, they are as if the afterlife of literary works. 4.Translation like literary criticism is based on individual experience and worldview, etc. of the translator/ critic and hence it is difficult to assess them. 5.Translation analysis is one type of literary analysis,because •Translation has been and is a value of a literary work. The more it is translated, the more valuable it is. •Any complete review of this or that work of art includes its (un)translatability. •The stages of translation analysis are the same for the literary criticism. There is much compatibility between them that needs much study.
