A Wideband Compact Dual-Polarized Magneto-Electric Dipole Planar Antenna Array for 5G Applications

A compact dual-polarized magneto-electric (ME) dipole planar antenna array for 5G is presented. The antenna array achieves dual polarization and a compact structure by using orthogonal probes in an interleaved manner to excite the ME dipole element and share the radiating structures. A single-layered microstrip line feed network feeds the antenna. The simulated results show that the array has an overlapped impedance bandwidth of 35.5% from 21.3 to 30.5 GHz for |S11|⩽ -10, stable gain within the operating frequency, and peak gain up to 15 dBi. The array can provide a reference for 5G antenna design.
