The Estimation of Serum Triglycerides by Nephelometry

The nephelometric method of serum triglyceride estimation was investigated as to its suitability for the smaller laboratory. It was confirmed that there is a high correlation between serum triglyceride levels and the LSI (Light Scattering Index). Using an LSI standard graph, serum triglyceride levels can be estimated with sufficient accuracy to provide a useful screening test for small laboratories without facilities for full lipid chemistry.
