A new species of Elachista Treitschke (Lepidoptera: Elachistidae) from Portugal

A previously undescribed species of Elachista Treitschke has been discovered at three localities in northern and central Portugal. The new species, Elachista pluviosa Corley & Nunes, sp. nov., belongs to the subgenus Aphelosetia Stephens and to the E. bedellella species group, showing morphological similarities to Elachista catalana Parenti, 1978 and related species, but differs in habitus, male genitalia and DNA barcode. Details on its habitat, host-plant and adult flight period are provided.
