The Front Cover shows an illustration of replication of mesostructured cobalt oxide and its utilization as electrocatalyst for water electrolysis. The impact of the nanowire diameters of the two-dimensional ordered mesoporous spinel (Co3O4) and rock-salt (CoO) cobalt oxides on their electrochemical oxygen evolution reaction (OER) activity has been systematically studied. The magnifying glass reveals an operando Raman spectroscopy technique that is used to monitor the alteration of the electrocatalyst during the OER. A phase transformation from rocksalt (CoO) to a distorted spinel (Co3O4) phase is observed, which was found to be responsible for a high OER activity in the starting rocksalt crystal phase.
