In this paper, Incremental Multi-Parameter (IMP) Algorithm, a kind of approximate maximum likelihood method which can realize super-resolution, is applied into shipborne HFSWR for angular resolution. In order to meet the need of single snapshot processing and practical application with IMP, an improved IMP algorithm is proposed, based on single snapshot covariance matrix estimation and beam-space processing. In this improved algorithm, single snapshot covariance matrix and beam-space processing contributes to a more accurate matrix, whose dimension has been reduced, and beam-space processing contributes for a flatter SNNR. Compared with the traditional IMP for single snapshot data, the computer simulation and real data processing results show effectiveness of this algorithm.
