Objective To obtain the full-length genome sequence of the first HIV-1 G subtype in Guangxi and analyze its source. Methods Peripherial blood plasma was collected. The viral genomic RNA was extracted and amplified in two halves by using RT-nested-PCR.The PCR products were sequenced by MEGA software after being purified. Results An 8800 bp length genomic sequence was acquired. The results of analysis of phylogenetic relationship using MEGA software suggested the strain was subtype G,which was further proved by the phylogenetic tree with a high bootstrap value(99%).In the phylogenetic tree, the isolated strain was grouped into clusters with those from Cameroon. Conclusion The strain might have been introduced from abroad.Surveillance for HIV-1 should be enhanuced in Guangxi.
