Assessment on the Sensitivity to Aeolian Desertification and Importance of Controlling Aeolian Desertification in the Middle Arid Region of Ningxia

The aeolian desertification degree was analyzed in the middle arid region of Ningxia,then the integrated sensitivity to aeolian desertification and importance of controlling aeolian desertification in the middle arid region of Ningxia was assessed.The sensitivity to aeolian desertification in the middle arid region of Ningxia was classified into five sensitive grades as: extremely,highly,moderately,slightly and insensitive.The area of extremely sensitive to aeolian desertification was distributed in north Shapotou District,which was adjacent to the south Tengger Desert;the area of highly sensitive was located in Yanchi County,Lingwu City and Hongsibao District,which was adjacent to the west Mu Us Sandy Land;the area of extremely and highly sensitive was surrounded by the moderately and slightly sensitive area;and the area of insensitive lied in the most south of the middle arid region of Ningxia.The importance of controlling aeolian desertification in the middle arid region of Ningxia was divided into four important grades as: extremely,important,moderately and unimportant.The area with extreme importance of controlling aeolian desertification was distributed in north Shapotou District,which was adjacent to the south Tengger Desert;the area with importance of controlling aeolian desertification was distributed in Yanchi County,Lingwu City and Hongsibao District,which was adjacent to the west Mu Us Sandy Land;the area with moderate importance was distributed in Haiyuan County and Tongxin County;and the area with no importance of controlling aeolian desertification was distributed in the most south of the middle arid region and along the Yellow River.
