Pillar[5]arene-based cross-linked microporous polymer (P[5]A-MPP) was synthesized via Friedel-crafts polymerization reaction. P[5]A-MPP exhibited high iodine vapor capture capability (3.84 g g−1) at 80 °C. Detailed UV–vis spectroscopic analysis revealed the rapid removal of iodine from water. This work highlights the efficient iodine adsorption efficiency in vapor phase, as well as rapid removal of iodine from aqueous solution and the recyclability of pillar[5]arene-based 3D cross-linked microporous polymer.
