In 2010, the American Heart Association (AHA) introduced the Life's Simple 7 (LS7) as a metric to assess and promote cardiovascular health (CVH) through the evaluation of seven modifiable health factors and behaviours that included blood pressure, serum levels of cholesterol and fasting glucose, body mass index (BMI), smoking, exercise, and dietary habits [1]. The ideal CVH, as defined by the AHA, has been associated with lower rates of subclinical disease cross‐sectionally, and with incident cardiovascular disease (CVD) prospectively [2,3].
