A method of determining the inertia effects in a four-bar linkage is described. General expressions are derived for the forces acting at the joints of the mechanism, and their variations with crank angle are shown graphically in some illustrative examples. The effects of balancing and of changes in the mass parameters of the linkage are discussed.
