In order to improve the flame resistance of Poly(ethylene-co-vinyl acetate)(EVA) thermoplastic elastomer, the flame retardant systems of melamine polyphosphate/pentaerythritol(MPP/PER) and layered double hydroxide(LDH) were used. The results showed that when the mass ratio of EVA/MPP/PER/LDH was 60/20/10/10,the flame resistance of the composite reached UL94V-0,and its LOI was 30.6%.TGA results showed that the residual rate of thermal decomposition of EVA was improved by the synergistic action of MPP/PER and LDH.The structure of char was investigated by scanning electronic microscopy(SEM).The results showed that the synergistic action of MPP/PER and LDH was contribute to form the continuous-dense char on the surface of EVA/MPP/PER/LDH composite, and the flame resistance of the composite was improved.
