Treatment of local recurrence of soft tissue sarcoma in 21 cases

Objective To investigate the effective therapy for recurrent soft tissue sarcoma.Methods The data of 21cases of recurrent soft tissue sarcoma from 1999 to 2007 treated in this hospital were analyzed and the literature concerned was reviewed.Results Resection of all sarcoma was performed.Adjuvant local radiotherapy was delivered after surgery.The irradiation dose ranged from 66 to 70Gy.Over three to eleven years of follow-up,no recurrence was observed.Conclusion Extensive excision with postoperative local radiotherapy might be an effective adjuvant therapy for recurrent soft tissue sarcoma.
