Design of a Hybrid Energy Storage System on Leveling off Fluctuating Power Outputs of Intermittent Sources

Hybrid energy storage is an important direction in the development of energy storage technology which can combine the advantages of high energy storage devices and high power storage devices,so as to overcome the disadvantages of a single energy storage technology.According to the application requirements of leveling off the fluctuating power outputs of intermittent sources,a hybrid storage system with super capacitor and battery is studied.Combine with the operation and control of the intermittent source,the role of hybrid energy storage is firstly analyzed.Then,considering the application requirement and output characteristics of the storage device,the power and energy management strategy is designed.The strategy is characterized by self-adaption combining centralized control and the local control techniques.Finally,experimental and simulation studies are given to show the effectiveness of the proposed method.
