Objective To evaluate the magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)in demonstration of the anatomy of the brachial plexus post-ganglionic by means of continuous thin-layer MR and to evaluate the different sequences of MRI.Methods 11 healthy adult volunteers,8 males and 3 females, underwent bilateral examination with a 1.5-T imager to assess the nerve structures of the brachial plexus post-ganglionic.The sequences used included T1WI,T2WI,and MRN.Results Coronal and oblique-sagittal fat-suppressed T2-weighted images were performed in all volunteers. All images of brachial plexus were manifested, especially those of the outlet of nerve root.MR neurography(MRN)was superior to other sequences. Conclusion Superior to the routine sequences in studying the anatomy of brachial plexus,MRN may help diagnose the injury of brachial plexus.
