The recent progress of research on peroxidase in plant disease resistance

The recent progress of research on peroxidase in plant disease resistance is reviewed.It is induced that the peroxidase activity increases and the peroxidase isozymes changes by pathogens infection.These increased peroxidaes activity or specific peroxidase isozymes may be to catalyse formation of bactericide,or to enhance biosynthesis of lignin and suberin,or to participate in forming papillae and accumulation of granular deposits at sites of penetration,therefore they would form general resistance and non-specific resistance.Various peroxidases have different specificity,they play a different part in plant disease resistance.It is not sure that the constitutive expression of peroxidase genes in the transgenic plant can be effective against pathogens infection.
