Lucas Wauters and colleagues1 concluded in an intervention study that spore-forming probiotics were efficacious in the treatment of functional dyspepsia. Participants had beneficial immune and microbial changes, which could provide insights into underlying mechanisms as future predictors or treatment targets. However, we have concerns about the study findings.
