In the past decade significant contributions have been made to the understanding of acute glomerulonephritis by virtue of advances in many fields, including epidemiology, immunology, histopathology and cardiovascular physiology. In addition, a variety of careful clinical observations have clarified many aspects of the natural history of the disease.
