Chemical Modifications in Natural and Engineered Ribozymes

The introduction of non-natural nucleotides into ribozymes and deoxyribozymes paves the way for a plethora of novel applications. This chapter presents existing approaches in functionalization of natural ribozymes and selection of new catalysts using nonnatural nucleotide building blocks.
