We calculate the effective dielectric constant $\ensuremath{\epsilon}$ of a composite medium containing metallic particles, characterized by the Drude dielectric function ${\ensuremath{\epsilon}}_{D}$. The value of ${\ensuremath{\epsilon}}_{D}$ is so high that the factor $|\frac{2\ensuremath{\pi}r{\ensuremath{\epsilon}}_{D}^{\frac{1}{2}}}{\ensuremath{\lambda}}|$ is of the order of unity. We compare our results with those given by the Bruggeman mixing rule, and with the results given by the mixing rule valid under the small-particle approximation published earlier. The enhancement in the Im ($\ensuremath{\epsilon}$) is up to 2 to 3 orders of magnitude larger than the values given by the Bruggeman mixing rule. However, our new results are lower (by a factor of 2 to 10) than the results we previously obtained.
