The alkali treatment conditions of muticomponent copolyester in the solution of sodium carbonate-ethylene glycol were studied. The relation between fiber deweighting rate with treatment temperature, alkali concentration, and alkali treatment time was discussed. The surface morphology and the strength change of the fiber were investigated. The structure of residues was analyzed by FTIR.The results showed that perfect alkali treatment effect was obtained, although strong alkali NaOH was replaced by weak alkali Na2CO3 in ethylene glycol. When alkali treatment time was 60~120 min and temperature was 100~120 ℃,the alkali deweighting rate was about 20 % and the strength retention was more than 80 %.The FTIR showed that alkali hydrolysate of copolyester in sodium carbonate-ethylene glycol was similar to that in water-sodium hydroxide.
