Clinical study on treatment of chronic persistent bronchial asthma by "Chuanxiong Antiasthma Mixture"

Objective To evaluate the clinical efficacy and safety of Chuanxiong Antiasthma Mixture in treating chronic persistent bronchial asthma.Methods A total of 101 patients were enrolled and randomly divided into treatment group(n=67) and control group(n=34).Asthma symptoms score,asthma control test(ACT),peak expiratory flow(PEF) rate,forced expiratory volume in one second(FEV1) rate and adverse events were observed.Results Asthma symptoms scores in 4th week,8th week and 12th week in the treatment group were decreased in comparison with four weeks before(P0.01),and also lower than those in the control group(P0.01,P0.05).While the asthma control rates in 4th week and 8th week in the treatment group were increased in comparison with four weeks before(P0.01),and higher than those in the control group(P0.05).PEF rates and FEV1 rates in 4th week,8th week and PEF rate in 12th week in the treatment group were also increased in comparison with four weeks before(P0.01),and higher than those in the control group(P0.01,P0.05).Conclusion Chuanxiong Antiasthma Mixture can obviously improve airway ventilation of moderate-to-severe chronic persistent bronchial asthma.
