A method based on ion chromatography for the determination of formic acid,acetic acid and chloroacetic acid in environmental sample was described. This method is rapid,accurate,and has good sensitivity. The limit of detection( S /N = 3) of formic acid,acetic acid and chloroacetic acid were 0. 030,0. 096,0. 574 μg /mL,respectively. Good linearities were achieved for the targeted compounds over the range of 1 ~ 20 μg /mL. The average spike recovery for targeted compounds ranged from 95. 05% to 105. 46%,while the relative standard deviations( RSD) were in the range of 1. 65%-3. 12%. It is suitable for determination of formic acid,acetic acid and chloroacetic acid in rain,surface water and ground water.
