Coronary occlusion in a child masquerading as dilated cardiomyopathy: the sequelae of missed Kawasaki disease

Abstract If coronary artery sequelae are the only suggestive signs of previous Kawasaki disease, the diagnosis may easily be missed. We describe a rare case of a child with severe occlusive coronary disease likely owing to missed Kawasaki disease. This diagnosis was not initially considered given the age and absence of suggestive history. Careful echocardiographic assessment and low-radiation coronary CT angiogram resulted in successful diagnosis and treatment.
