Reduction of 5th Harmonic Electromagnetic Interference from Magnetrons And Microwave Ovens

The advent of DBS (Direct Broadcasting Satellites) in the 12 GHz band for Europe has made the reduction of 5th harmonic emissions a major concern for microwave oven manufactures.This paper describes a new magnetron with a choke for reducing the 5th harmonic level of present microwave ovens. The paper also recommends oven design considerations that can reduce the 5th harmonic emissions.
