A global target for semi-natural land cover within human dominated landscapes?

Conversion and degradation of semi-natural habitats threatens the supply of ecosystem benefits. In a quantitative meta study, Mohammed et al. estimate that at least ∼20%–25% of the semi-natural habitat in human-modified landscapes needs conserving or restoring to provide such benefits. Is such a target achievable? Yes, but not without careful consideration of local contexts.
