line restored ABA sensitivity in the dark, suggesting that SAUR proteins are key to maintain hypocotyls insensitive to ABA. This hypocotyl-specific mechanism enables growth toward the light, overriding ABA inhibition of cell elongation, ensuring subsequent seedling establishment and survival.
